Ep. 286 – How I protect my thumb when playing the harp

Here’s a look at how I protect the skin under my thumbnail using climbing tape.

For me, my right thumb can easily develop a blister when the nail is short – as I play the skin gets pushed against the nail and when it has been recently cut the skin can be quite soft and easy to blister. Using something such as climbing (or athletic) tape to provide a “second skin” makes it possible to continue to practice without getting a blister! In case you have a similar issue I thought I’d share the process I do.
