Ep. 321 – Learning an Irish tune on the harp – Ar Éirinn Ní Neosfainn Cé Hí

https://thesession.org/ is a fantastic resource for trad tunes and in today’s episode I show one way to use it – by browsing, finding something that sounds interesting, and then trying it out!

I chose a song (https://thesession.org/tunes/1039 ) called Ar Éirinn Ní Neosfainn Cé Hí or “For Ireland, I’d Not Tell Her Name”. I picked it just because I liked how it sounded, without doing any research on it, but it turns out it is very well known ballad, and generally slower than I played it. This is another important step that I didn’t mention – to go and listen to a bunch of performances of a new piece you’re learning!

I’ve done other episodes in the past on tunes from thesession.org – for example The Butterfly Jig, and The Wind that Shakes the Barley.
